Class Descriptions

YOGA

Most of our yoga classes are based on the Vinyasa Yoga Tradition, which synchronizes the power of breath-led movement with dynamic flowing movements.  Often referred to as meditation in motion, Breathe offers a variety of vinyasa classes that will encourage you to cultivate flexibility, strength, endurance, balance, focus, and serenity.

ALL LEVELS CREATIVE FLOW YOGA

All Levels Creative Flow unites movement with your breath in a restorative and challenging flow. This class is a great first step for those who want to try yoga for the first time! Come to this class to explore the movement and joy of yoga in a peaceful, safe, and supported space.

GENTLE FLOW

Allow yourself to unwind in a gentle style that uses props to support the body through a series of lower-intensity poses. Gentle yoga encourages body alignment while allowing for a gentle, relaxing flow.

BEGINNERS YOGA

Basic Yoga class with a little bit of flow between poses.  Perfect for a beginner, advanced beginner, or someone just wanting to get back to basics.

BUTI YOGA

A yoga-based movement practice that fuses power yoga, tribal dance, and plyometrics into a high-intensity workout that transforms the body from the inside out.

CHAKRA YOGA

Chakras are energy centers in your body that affect you physically, mentally, and spiritually – the templates of human life.  Drawing upon all traditions, practices, and wisdom of yoga, this class will utilize asana (poses), pranayama (breath work), mudra (ritual gesture), mantra (sacred word), meditation and visualization to explore, clean, and balance these energy centers.

FLOW 1

A smooth, relaxing class where you move fluidly from pose to pose. Great for beginners.

GENTLE FLOW

This class is an exercise in motion of gentle, flowing movements designed to lengthen and strengthen all muscle groups.  Gentle Flow is perfect for all levels, and will provide an achievable goal of flexibility for all participants.  The movement can also be stimulating to the cardiovascular system, especially if done as a warm/hot practice.  This is the perfect low impact workout which you will find yourself looking forward to every week.

POWER FLOW

This class combines breath and movement in a dynamic sequence of poses that will challenge you physically – it will strengthen, stretch and reinvigorate your body, clear your mind and leave you with a sense of accomplishment and empowerment. Expect to move, sweat and be energized from the practice.

PRIMORDIAL QIGONG

Qigong is a powerful system of healing and energy. It is the art and science of using breathing techniques, gentle movement, and meditation to cleanse, strengthen, and circulate life energy (qi) Qigong practice leads to better health and vitality and a tranquil state of mind.  Easy to learn, Primordial Qigong is a very powerful system of qi activation. The system works to harmonize the four directional forces and the five elements balancing Yin and Yang to tap into deep level primordial spiritual energy.

RESTORATIVE YOGA

The key to this class is in its name, RESTorative.  Allow yourself to unwind completely in a gentle class that uses many props to support the body through a series of asanas (poses) held for longer durations of time.  Restorative yoga encourages body alignment while allowing for a deep opening that can occur when our bodies are completely supported and relaxed. 

SOUL MEDICINE CONSCIOUS MOVEMENT

Conscious movement is a self expressive, body based movement meditation. Practice that reconnects us to the wisdom of living from the heart and the joy of remembering who we truly are~ awakening the dancer inside us. Our dance deepens your connection to yourself, creativity, and innate wisdom of your soul by fully experiencing each moment through breath, sound, and embodied movement with inspiring music.

Soul Medicine conscious movement invites us to listen to the dance of life inside of us and all around us, supporting us to awaken more love inside and outside.

WARM YIN

Yin yoga focuses on postures that lengthen the connective tissue around the joints of the hips, pelvis, and lower back through an “active” relaxation of the muscles.  Almost all poses are done seated, prone, or supine with little to no standing, and are held for longer periods of time.  Suitable for all levels, yin yoga offers participants the opportunity to surrender, slow down, and come back to balance by focusing on the breath, being present in the moment, and letting go.  In a room heated to approximately 80-degrees.

YINYASA

Fusing the stillness of Yin and the breath-led movement of Vinyasa, this class provides a very integrated and balanced practice of Yin & Yang suitable for all levels. 

Y12SR (Yoga of 12-Step Recovery)

Gretchen & Tammy are certified Yoga Teachers and are certified as Yoga 12 Step Recovery (Y12SR) leaders. Their Y12SR training was certified in Nashville and Raleigh.

Y12SR connects the 12-step principals & ancient yoga philosophy. Gretchen and Tammy hold a safe space for a sharing circle to express feelings of addiction and recovery.  The yoga practice is a gentle flow of body movement, our issues live in our tissues. Gretchen & Tammy also provide Y12SR to women in an inpatient addiction recovery center in Johnson City. No matter if you have 24 hours or 24 years of recovery, all A’s are welcome.

The class is by donation. Anonymity is protected.
